Hope and Helps Ministry has many breather, and yours also, that are continuously crying out for daily bread, clothing, medicines badly needed and shelter. How can we neglect these cries for help, while we live, work and worship in the richest nation in the world? We pray that the Lord will open our eyes, ears and hearts and touch us in such a way, that these brethren will know that they are loved, as Jesus loves them.
Only 3% of the population in India are Christians. 10% are Muslim and the Hindu make up the marjority with five caste systems. Approximately 300 million occupy the caste known as the "untouchables" or Dalits. They are sentenced by birthright to the wost of jobs, such as sewage removal, laundries, animal care, etc. with no legal rights. Also, they are not allowed to drink water from the same wells as the Hindu. They are labeled "soul-less" as the animals, and told that their purpose in life is to serve the higher castes: Brahmans - holy men and teachers, Kshatriyas - rulers and warriors, Visyas - merchants, and Sudras, the working class.
Hope and Helps Ministry is reaching many Dalits, many have given their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. They are blessed to be new converts, because they have found THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE which is Jesus, who has brought them out of the horror of idol worship and he evil caste system of India into the fullness and joy, love, peace and forgiveness and His promise of ETERNAL LIFE. Militant Hindu groups do not want to see these changes that true conversion brings to the life of one of God's so-called "least," because they have always believed that God and Jesus were the gods of only the westerners. So, thankfully, there is now a great window of opportunity open in India. We need to seize this time God has given us, for those poorest in the world's eyes, yet so rich in faith. | BORE
WELLS
As of September 2006, we have completed eight bore wells in eight villages in India. Our India brethren are evangelizing at each of the bore wells and we are hearing wonderful salvation stories that are a direct result of CLEAN, FRESH, PURE WATER being given to both the christian and the hindu men and women. We have even heard that, in some cases, the hindu are moving their villages closer to the wells. Hindu are giving their life to Jesus and becoming a part of the family of God -- new brothers and sisters. They will be discipled and raised up to become evangelists or perhaps, pastors themselves.
Many hindu people are benefiting from our well projects, and end up coming to church huts, to hear more about Jesus Christ. THESE BORE WELLS ARE TEARING DOWN "RELIGIOUS" BARRIERS, SO AS TO REACH SOULS FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD. This shows how God turns our small donations into life-changing, and soul-winning situations. Because of increased costs in fuel and labor, a bore well now costs $1,500. This is still a bargain price as we have seen other ministries charging between $3,500 to $7,000 for a well. PRISON OUTREACH
Hope and Helps Prison Ministry has grown from reaching out to one facility, Camp 7 - White Post Correctional Facility, located in White Post, VA, to four prison facilities including the Warren County Jail, Front Royal, VA; Page County Jail, Luray, VA; and, the Winchester / Frederick County Jail located in Winchester, VA.
Currently, we are providing the INSIDE JOURNAL, a prison outreach newspaper, printed by PRISON FELLOWSHIP to over 500 inmates. Please keep this ministry in your prayers, that the testimonies of ex-prisoners and men currently incarcerated will touch the lives of others and they too will look to Jesus as the Lord and Savior.

APPALACHIAN PROJECT
Covering Maine to Georgia, the Christian Appalachian Project has for years been a beacon of Christ to the poor located in the Appalachian mountains. We have been able to assist CAP with donations of medical supplies, hospital beds, disability equipment, i.e., crutches, wheel chairs, etc., and recently dental equipment.
Once more we have gathered materials which needs to be delivered to Corbin, Kentucky. If you can help supply any funds for the rental truck and/or fuel, we would be most appreciative.

FLOODING IN ANDRA PRADESH STATE
The month of August 2006 brought much needed rain to the drought parched areas where our India brethren live and worship. Unfortunately, too much rain fell, causing the Godavara River to flow over its banks. Almost immediately, we started to receive frantic e-mails from our pastors asking for assistance. Asking for food, funds to repair their homes, and funds to replace lost articles. In some cases, individuals were left sitting on the roof of their THATCHED HUT HOMES for 3 to 4 days -- with no food, and no water. To make matters worse, right before the flood, thousands had taken sick with Chicken Gunya, a mosquito-borne virus, similar to Break Bone Fever. High fevers, pain in all the joints, vomiting, etc. the patient is very weak for at least a month.

| PERSECUTION ON THE INCREASE
Please keep the Body of Christ in India in your daily devotions. More and more, we are hearing about attacks on our brothers, sisters and their children, in India. Because of the new life they receive in Christ, they learn they are no longer slaves of the hindu system. This is a threat to a system that has been in control for thousands of years. | HELPING PASTORS
Hope and Helps Ministry now has over one hundred pastors and their families that we are assisting. You can "adopt" a pastor and his family; helping them to reach the lost, by sending monthly support through this ministry. Already, we have approximately, thirty or so pastors that are receiving a gift each month from an American family. We praise God that He has increased this ministry from small beginnings (5 or so pastors two years ago) to large blessings (over 100 pastors). We love and value highly each one of these men and women of God. They are amazing! We also love and pray for all our faithful supporters. They are also amazing!
